PCSWCD Offers a Wide Range of Educational and Technical Services
Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District’s (PCSWCD) mission is to build resilient, sustainable farms and forests through education, technical services, demonstration and stewardship. Throughout the year, we offer a variety of educational programs, which you can check out at www.piscataquisswcd.org/eventsprograms.
The PCSWCD works with a variety of local partners, including state agencies: University of Maine, Cooperative Extension and the Natural Resource Conservation Service, to name a few. Through partnerships and with our own expertise, we are able to connect constituents to services geared to help improve their land, address natural resource concerns and become stewards of our environment.

Stream Restoration Work
Connect with us to see if a stream on your property qualifies for program assistance to help with aquatic organism passage and/or repair or replacement of crossings. Providing Natural Resource and Outdoor Education Through PEEC!
PCSWCD has teamed up with AMC, Rural Aspirations and NREC to form a new environmental education collaborative, PEEC. Each organization brings a different level of expertise and opportunity to Piscataquis residents and students. Together, we work in Piscataquis schools (and outside of school!) and connect students to their natural environment through hands-on natural resource lessons. We utilize outdoor classrooms, trails and all infrastructure around the schools in addition to hosting school groups for field trips! Education
We work with schools and organizations to provide dynamic, hands-on lessons that align with and support curriculum. We also offer field trips to the Law Farm and Williamsburg Forest, youth-based programs geared towards fun exploration and understanding of our natural resources and year-round programs covering a variety of topics. Help Managing Your Woodlands
We have offered and will continue to offer workshops on woodlot management, forestry BMPs and skill-building such as Chainsaw Safety. We can also connect you to free resources and resource professionals in your area! The Maine Forest Service provides District foresters throughout the state who provide technical assistance and educational services to landowners, loggers, schools and educational institutions, municipalities and other stakeholders. Helping Farmers Protect Natural Resources
